Eastern Stone Lion Statues are usually depicted in pairs, these lions would consist of a male leaning his paw upon an embroidered ball and a female restraining a playful cub.

According to feng shui, when you looking out of a building and looking in the same direction as the lions, the male is placed on the left and the female on the right.
